Each appearance of the young and talented Armenian-born Vahag Petian brings a joy to the audience. His lyrical piano performance combined with tremendous technique has won him competitions and awards throughout the world. Vahag has performed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and as a teenager, he became a prize-winner of Jazz-Panorama in Tbilisi, Georgia. He received the Grand Prix in All-Union "Improvisation 89" jazz competition in Vilnius and an invitation to participate in the international Jazz-Jambori 89 jazz festival in Poland. In 1990, he undertook a 5-month concert tour in the United States and France. Vahag has performed throughout the Middle East and co-organized the Euro-Arab jazz festival in Damascus, under the aigis of the European Union. He has traveled to New Orleans to record and perform.

Vahag is just as adept in classical music as he is in jazz. He recently graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatory in Armenia, with an emphasis in composition. His classical musicianship is heard and felt in his jazz performance. He does not borrow from past masters in both worlds of music, but embraces these worlds and brings his own personal style of jazz to a greater level"
